In a society fast becoming cashless the online commitments we make to Apple, Google, restaurant bookings, online shopping, subscriptions, Amazon, Uber, (the list goes on and on) are beginning to be utilised by smaller business. Just like Mien Salon Spa and other Salons. Hair and spa clients comfortable with online payments may easily imagine a society where we no longer put our hands in our pockets to pay ( it’ll come to salons across Melbourne sooner). What’s important is that Mien Salon Spa and our client needs continue to be one and the same. We all want security, streamlining of payments and a great reward system.

It is recommended that you book your appointments in advance, with the advice of your therapist, to ensure you get the maximum benefit and prioritized time to suit your schedule. Using credit cards online:
The short story is that salon software is allowing salons like Mien Salon Spa to access your previous or online payment methods (with your approval of course). Encryption (and guarantees) at the software level make salon transactions as secure as all the most reputable financial online transactions you might make. All PhorestPay TnCs are there when you sign up.
On the salon floor we only allow someone to use previously used PhorestPay payments (face to face) if we know the individual. Call us paranoid but protecting you from real impersonators is actually what we discuss. Each mien team member is pin assigned while cameras operate throughout the salon space. So it’s pretty safe.
Signing up for PhorestPay:
This can be offered either when you book online or pay a deposit over the phone. At that time you will be asked whether or not, you would like to authorise PhorestPay to save your payment details for future payments. If you do - checking-out at Mien Salon Spa gets a little quicker. In fact there’ll become no need to come to the desk at all. What can I say - some people are into that idea and some aren’t. Totally up to you :-)
Deposits on hair and spa bookings:
Besides being very easy, open 24/7 and being completely real-time all online bookings require a 50% deposit. You’ll use PhorestPay to do this. Phone bookings follow a similar procedure. Using PhorestPay is the easiest way to pay for the services and rebook. Don’t forget all pre booked services can be rescheduled anytime either remotely or via phone as long as there’s 24hours notice (overnight phone messages not included). So you’ll never lose a deposit as long as you stick to the timeline.
Cancellation and No Show Fees:
Mien Salon Spa have always been concerned with looking after our most valuable asset - our staff. When staff have appointments that are completely missed by clients then it’s the team member who could be the one that suffers financially. That’s why deposits and cancellation fees are only 50% of the service fee.
In our industry, more advanced service providers work on a commission basis. So of course if a client doesn’t show up; then staff may not get paid. So it’s really important that we get this thing right and everyone feels comfortable. So while we understand that life happens and that sometimes bookings can be missed we also want to protect the income of our hairdressers and Spa Therapists. So when not enough notice is given - deposits may be lost or cancellation fees charged.
How do treat points pay for no-shows?
Treat points are a gift from the salon to reward client loyalty and patronage. All clients will generate points each and every time when paying for services or buying products. Treat points accumulate as more services are paid for. When the balance becomes enough to cover the price of a service then treat points may be used as a payment option.
In the case of a cancellation fee a clients available treat points may be used at Miens discretion as a payment method. When treat points are used the fee is at a total 100% cost to the business (as it translates to real value going toward the service providers commission but treat points are not real money).
