The People Of Mien - Gilly

When we first met Ukranian born Gilly, we were hypnotised by his kind eyes and generous heart. But it’s his sincere love for all things creative and his love for the Australian life that had the mien management team backing him and ensuring that Mien and Melbourne became his home. Now here indefinitely on a humanitarian visa, Gilly will happily tell you about escaping the Ukrian and of his time as an ‘illegal’ working as a florist in St Petersburg. And it was in Russia that his passion for hairdressing was born.

Originally Gilly came to mien with a bunch of flowers and a beautiful hand written letter asking for an opportunity to develop his passion for hairdressing. Fast forwarding through an apprenticeship Gilly has also recently sucessfully presented for his “stylist test’ here at mien! So we’re proud to say he’s on the floor!
