Meet Alex: Mien’s Newest Team Member

We’re thrilled to introduce the newest member of the Mien Salon family—Alex, our latest apprentice! From the moment she stepped into the salon, Alex has brought an incredible mix of dedication, reliability, and a warm, welcoming energy that makes every client feel at ease.

Originally from Perth, Alex moved to Melbourne to pursue university studies, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and TV. While her degree is in a different creative field, Alex’s love for hairdressing soon took center stage, leading her to join Mien as an apprentice. Eager to learn and contribute, Alex brings not only a sharp mind but also a genuine passion for the craft. Her positive attitude, quick wit, and kind nature make her a natural fit for the salon environment, ensuring that both clients and the team are always smiling.

In addition to her training at Mien, Alex stays creative outside of the salon as well—she’s an avid videographer and editor, with a keen eye for visual storytelling. Whether it’s creating short films or capturing the beauty of everyday moments, her artistic talents extend far beyond the hairdressing world, giving her a unique perspective that she brings to everything she does.

At Mien, we take great pride in our in-house mentor and training program, which provides our young, up-and-coming stylists with the chance to learn from some of the best in the industry. Our team of seasoned professionals offers invaluable high-end training, which has helped many talented apprentices rise through our tiered pricing system to become top-tier stylists, salon managers, trainers, and even successful business owners. This unique program is designed to nurture talent, develop skill, and provide hands-on experience in an environment where excellence is the standard.

We have no doubt that Alex, with her natural talent and drive, will go on to achieve great things at Mien.

When Alex isn’t honing her craft in the salon or working on her videography projects, you’ll likely find her spending time with her two beloved cats—yes, she’s a proud “cat mum”! She’s also been instrumental in helping Mien refine our commitment to sustainability, contributing fresh ideas to make our salon more environmentally conscious.
