The passion for hair all started during Michael's high school days when he set foot in a barbershop for a haircut. The hairstylist, exuding coolness with his sharp scissors and stylish glasses, struck a chord with Michael. In that moment, he knew he wanted to begin his journey of making people feel as cool and confident as that barber did for him!
As a third-year apprentice, Michael eagerly looks forward to developing his hairdressing skills, with a particular interest in the art of cutting. Exploring layered haircuts very much peaks his interest. Mentored by industry experts at Mien, Michael is determined to craft his own signature style that leaves clients feeling gorgeous as they walk out of the salon. With hopes that soon, passerby's will be able to spot a "Michael cut" from a mile away!
When asked about his favourite aspect of working at Mien, Michael noted that it's the adrenaline rush he gets during the busiest hours, with back-to-back clients and managing multiple tasks. The chaos brings him focus and a surge of productivity. He loves being able to engage with a diverse range of clients! Michael thrives in the high-energy atmosphere, “it feels like magic during the Saturday rush, a party even!”.
Michael’s current favourite hair trend has to be the vibrant hair colours that grace the streets of Fitzroy. The sight of electric blues, pinks, and fiery reds he reckons are it! “Melbourne can be quite grey at times so those colours add a bit more vibrancy into our lives!”.
Maintaining his own curly locks is a top priority for Michael, and he swears by two essential products: Aveda Curl Gelee and the Be Curly Conditioner. “I love that they don’t leave my hair feeling too crunchy and really enhance my luscious locks!!”.
