WHAT TO EXPECT
The spray tan is carefully applied and completed in 15 minutes by an experienced operator. We've been told by atleast one satisfied customer that the spray tan 'room' is the most luxurious she's ever experienced. The tan we use at mien can last over one week. The benefits are fantastic! You feel a whole lot healthier by experiencing an instant natural looking tan without the damaging rays of the sun or solarium tubes.
PREPARATION FOR YOUR SPRAY TAN:
Ensure that your body is completely dry, exfoliated moisturizer free, no perfume or, deodorant and make-up for best results.
Bring an umbrella if it looks like it's going to rain on the day of your appointment. Water on a fresh tan will mark. Best to organize waxing beforehand if needed...
Recommended for optimum results is the body polish spray tan pack. This pack is great value combining one of our favourite deep cleansing and exfoliating body treatments with a spray tan. (details below)
AFTER CARE:
Immediately after your spray tan has set, which takes 8-10 minutes, arrange to have a pair of loose comfortable shoes or thongs and loose comfortable clothing. If you plan to have a pedicure and manicure book those services in the day spa before hand for ultimate glamour. If you chose to have a pedicure and manicure afterward you remove the tan on the hands and feet. Tanned feet and hands look stunning with freshly painted nails. Don't plan to do anything that will make you perspire for at least 8 hours as the tan can sweat off.
The tan, once applied, will give instant colour, however this is a superficial dye and some of it will come off in the shower (which you are allowed to have once you have waited for 8 hours for the tan to develop completely!). The solution that remains on your skin will feel smooth, oxidize and deepen in colour to give a very natural tan. A good example of this process is once you bite into an apple and leave it for a while it will brown (a bit like your tan).
When showering, cleanse as you would normally but don't exfoliate, pat yourself dry with a towel and moisturize your skin daily. At mien we recommend the AVEDA Caribbean Body Creme. This will aid in lengthening the span of your tan. It has a mild bronzing effect and keeps the tan looking fresh and natural longer. The Caribbean Body Creme has a beautiful tropical scent of lime and vetiver yummy!. A gentle body cleanser that is conditioning and non stripping like the Caribbean Body Cleanser is also recommended.
Our caring operator/s uses a soft cloth to wipe wrists and the inside of the arms after spraying the tan to make sure there are no tell tale signs of an artificial tan. Dependant of your skin colour, the spray tan operator adjusts how much tan is applied for it to look natural and complement your skin. If the tan rubs off on your clothes or bed sheets it easily washes out with water.
